Brexit. The term everyone is talking about and what it will mean for businesses world over. SMEs are likely to be especially vulnerable due to their smaller scale. With this in mind, what should they be doing?
Confusion is rampant regarding all areas of Brexit, especially since no country has left the EU in the same way before. Greenland and Algeria in the past both left the EU but under very different circumstances and having had less direct involvement with the EU, so they provide a poor example for people to use to create predications. That leaves people, and businesses, largely on their own to try and guess what is next for the UK.
Is the term digital transformation overused? It’s thrown around a lot, both as a promise of what is to come, and as a reason behind many personal and business decisions. Is there a clear definition though, or are companies and individuals bending the concept to fit their business needs, a flashy term to catch client attention?
Speaking Out about Outsourcing . . .
Outsourcing is often misunderstood, especially by those whose job it affects. Companies don’t just outsource because of a lack of capability, sometimes it is a consequence of an increase on the demand of their resources, or for a specialist need. Outsourcing shouldn’t be seen as what you do when you don’t have the resources. It is a resource, a different cost model option and a useful tool when scaling a business.
The recent revelations about Harvey Weinstein’s actions have had an incredible impact, leading people to speak up about ill-treatment and injustices in all industries. Many celebrities, such as Cara Delevingne, Gwenyth Paltrow, Tom Jones and more have all come out to talk about sexual harassment and sexism in both the film and music industries. More so however the general public have begun to speak out and show the overwhelming numbers of those who have been harassed or assaulted after a call to arms by Alyssa Milan who began the ‘#metoo’ trend.
