This new role presents an exciting opportunity to join a creative, forward thinking and ambitious company with an established technology consulting and delivery model. Part of an exciting 5 year plan, our client has launched a somprehensive portfoilio of products for thier public sector CIO community and is looking for a Head of Business Development to work with the Practice Head in building out the new division.

The business is well established, benefitting from organic UK growth and an enviable list of existing clients.

The Role

To sell to and network with public sector CIOs, particularily in Local Authorities where there is already an identified opportunity to assist organisations in the adoption of digital technologies and working practices to facilitate greater efficiencies and reduce operating expenditure. The role will involve a relationship and advisory based sales process, balanced with rigor and pace, also maximising convertion of leads and opportunities identified by marketing acivity and networking by the practice head.

You will be selling a portfolio of defined digital and technology services aligned with their exsiting range and capability tailored to the public sector practice and the target clients needs.

  • Has a good network of contacts in the public sector and knows how to leverage them

  • Track and appropriately communicate sales progress
  • Actively manage client engagement and trouble shoot
  • Work with the leadership team to track value against workload and update forecasts as required
  • Behave appropriately and uphold the culture and ethics of the business

Skills

  • Somone cabale of building relationships with and identifying needs within the public sector CIO community, especially Local Authorities
  • Able to ensure that there is a continual building of the sales pipeline and can forecast prospects effectively
  • Experience of converting sales leads and selling specific outcomes and services
  • Providing a 360 degree feedback to the leaderhsip team and product development team
  • Has had experience ensuring or at least being aware of delivery resource availability and allocation
  • Can develop a detailed sales plan and track progress, giving regular weekly prospect reports
  • Knows how to measure their own performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques
  • Strong communication and upwards management skills, can report and escalate issues to management as needed
  • Creates and maintain comprehensive sales documentation

 

Personal Capability

  • Degree level of educational background
  • Proven working experience as a sales or business development manager in the information technology, digital or consultancy sectors, ideally selling into the Public Sector
  • Solid technical understanding of current IT and Digital transformation agendas
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong working knowledge andsome hands on experience delivering or assisting in the account management of IT solutions or consultancy delivery
